Cigarettes and how they effect the the body and the earth
I saw someone throw a cigarette out of their car window and I saw my last project flash before my eyes. I decided that I would use synthesis to combine how bad cigarettes are for your health and for the earth. I wrote a series of haikus in the Earth's perspective. I made sculptures of cigarettes that have facts inside of them.
English
My people are sick
I feel the urge to help them,
First, they must help me
But they beckon them.
And they cannot refuse them.
And it’s at their cost.
You cough and choke
Your lungs are screaming for help
Time to punish them
Time to cough up dough
Nicotine is your master
And you are it’s slave
I gave you it all
But you’re mean when you’re with them
What did I do wrong?
Tubes of white thrown down
Have you forgotten me now?
You treat me like shit.
My seas are filling
Discarded and forgotten
Floating cancer drifts
Sniff, taste, lick, sniff, eat
The animals suffer too
Bodies are destroyed
You keep me filthy
As I reign without judgment
It’s a one-way street
As they inhale it
Death takes notice and moves in
Perched, he waits for pain
The pain comes slowly
But the bodies always break
Then goes the spirit
Death collects it all
In exchange for all the pain
You get unconscious

Art
I decided to make larger than life cigarettes. These represent how much a single cigarette can affect the earth and the body. There are pieces of paper which represent pieces of tobacco, each piece has a fact about cigarettes on them.
